The Claud Board would like to announce that the group has
been successfully partnered with the Whitwell and Reepham Railway, located in
Norfolk. Whitwell will act as a parent company. The ability to receive donations
will be operational by the end of this month. All donations made to the Claud
will be restricted for this project only. We are still linked with the Australian
new build group VSLC.
The main benefits for the new link are; a future base to store, build and use the
locomotive, expert help, a local link
and business expertise.
“Whitwell & Reepham
Station re-opened on the 28th February 2009 nearly 50 years after it was closed
to passengers. Continuing aims are to
restore the Station to its former glory circa 1930/40′s, relaying track and
sidings, acquiring rolling stock and add more items to the museum relating to
the Station and The Midland & Great Northern Railway.”
Much has happened in the background since the last update. We have had the first newsletter sent out to our current members. The next newsletter is being finalised and will be sent out in June.
A members section has also been added to the website where members are able to access past newsletters in PDF form.
On a sad note our Chairman, Chris Allenby has left the position due to personal circumstances. Dan Knights has stepped in as a temporary Chairman till further notice of an appointment. The team thanks Chris' support and input over the past few years in starting up the group.
Three new members have been added to the Board. Rob Ewles as business adviser, Dan Peart as adviser and Peter Kelley as treasurer.
In other news, but later than planned due to a connection problem, but we have officially released membership as an online option! Please visit http://www.claudhamiltonlocomotivegroup.co.uk/#!join-us/c1yuw and see what we offer! (We regret that membership is only available through the internet at this stage)
We would like to thank everyone who came to see us alongside the Holden F5 Group at Loughborough Station during Great Central Railway's Winter Steam Gala, which starred GWR No.6023 "King Edward II".
We received a great deal of interest, and forged new links with other groups. We also raised a reasonable amount of money for the project through donations and purchases of items for sale on the stand.
Our headboard also made several appearances over the gala weekend, worn by the Jinty, 2MT and N2.
Firstly apologies that the website revamp has taken so much time, but it is now back online and fully operational with new features too!
And Secondly it with great excitement that we can tell you there will be a sales stand at the Great Central Railways Winter Gala on Saturday the 26th & Sunday the 27th of January! Here you will find our merchandise, second hand goods and be able to donate cash and second hand items! There will also be the pattern owned by the Holden F5 Trust, who are kindly allowing us to use it, on display all at Loughborough Central Station! Keep an eye open for our head board also! Come along and meet some of the team behind the project!
And last, but by no means least, a huge thank you to all our supporters in 2012 and we look forward to continued support to help us cast the bogie wheels later this year! Below is the pattern owned by the Holden F5 Trust which we will be using.
